SUTTON FEAST
Family Fun Run 2011
RESULTS
This year, the eight year we have run the event, a record 58 people took part. Everyone finished and received a commemorative medal. Certificates were awarded to the fastest male and female in each age group.
Well done everyone who took part, and made it yet again such a friendly, good humoured event! Special mention to all the very young people, for whom 3.5 kilometres is a long way to walk and run, especially on such a hot and humid morning. It was also great to have so many families entering, even if mums and dads did seem to be regularly beaten in sprint finishes by their children!
Congratulations to Jamie Loades, the winner in the second fastest time ever for this run. Congratulations to Jack Loveday who was second in a time that would have won it for him in other years. (In fact the 12-15 age group was vey competitive with a lot of boys doing good times.) Congratulations also to George Youngs who was third. George, who is still only 11, has taken part in each of the last four years, always does well and is improving his time every year. Fastest female was Olivia Mead, beating not only her mum(!) but girls a lot older than herself.
A special mention for the winer of the boys under 8 category, Corey Braybrooke, who last ran two years ago since when he improved by over 3 minutes; also Arundel Hughes, over five minutes faster than two years ago, and only beaten for the boys under 10 award by an excellent top ten finish by young Archie Patterson.
Several people improved their personal times from last year. Olivia Youngs, still only 8, was over 4 minutes faster (obviously she and her brother George come from a talented running family!) Jenna Loades was another young runner who improved by more than a minute (another family of runners!) Patricia Gray was the fastest woman in the over 60 category again, proving you can always improve with a time over a minute faster this year.
Thomas Smith was over 7 minutes faster than last year - what an improvement! However, pride of place goes to Hartley Green, who not only narrowly beat his dad, but ran over 11 minutes faster than last year - incredible! Sam Smith, who has taken part every year apart from 2008, continues to shave time off his personal best. Matthew Loades, up in fourth place, was another boy to improve his already impressive personal best. Brian Bradshaw, winner in the over 60 category, repeated last year’s achievement - he went on to compete in and finish the 7 mile Feast Beast by way of a cool down!
But, as ever, it was about everyone who joined in – and all the people who helped marshal and organise the event. Thank you all!
