SUTTON
FEAST
Family Fun Run 2010
RESULTS
This year, the seventh year we have run the event, 48 people took part. Despite it being the hottest day of the year so far! Everyone finished and received a commemorative medal. Certificates were awarded to the fastest male and female in each age group.
Well done everyone who took part, and made it yet again such a friendly, good humoured event! Special mention to some very young people, for whom 3.5 kilometres is a long way to walk and run, especially on such a very, very hot morning.
Congratulations to Tristan Melen, the winner at his first attempt, and in a fast time; to George Youngs, second again this year and still only 10; and to Cameron Sharp, seventeenth last year, but third this time, a minute and three-quarters faster! Fastest female was Lauren Lomas-Pickering.
Several people improved their personal times from last year, which is a real achievement on such a hot day. Callum Holmes was fastest boy in the under 10 category, a minute and a half faster than last year. Jack Boston took a minute off last year’s time. So did Ben Isaacson, and he was the fastest boy under 8 for the second year running (beating his dad on the line – for the second year running!). Mark Youngs was half minute faster.
Barbara Philips was the fastest woman in the 41-50 category again, but she has obviously been training very hard – she was over 6 minutes faster this year – incredible!
Sam Smith, who has taken part every year apart from 2008, continued to shave time off his personal best. Kim Osborne, winner in the 51-60 category was half a minute faster than last time he ran – and he was 3 years younger then! Brian Bradshaw, winner in the over 60 category, went on to compete in and finish the 7 mile Feast Beast by way of a cool down!
Also a special mention for Isabelle Holmes, still only 4 years old. Last year she went round accompanied by her mum. This year she obviously decided dad would be a better running partner, and went round the whole course on her own two feet, two minutes faster than last year, to proudly receive her medal.
But, as ever, it was about everyone who joined in – and all the people who helped marshal and organise the event. Thank you all!
